Hi, I’m Jack Henstridge, originally from the UK, now living and working in Detroit, MI—I'm a passionate creator and self-taught designer with a mission to make life simpler, more inclusive, and functional. My journey into UX and product design started later in life after a career in engineering, where I discovered my true calling: solving complex problems with thoughtful design. Determined to turn this passion into a career, I immersed myself in learning through courses, boot camps, blogs, and podcasts, building a strong foundation to transition into the design world and a career in UX and product design.
I thrive on tackling challenges of all sizes and enjoy working on projects from initial concept to final deployment. My approach to design is rooted in empathy and driven by a desire to create experiences that truly improve people's lives.
Beyond work, I’m an avid runner and photographer—always striving to go further, see more, and capture the world around me. I have completed multiple ultramarathons in the USA and have extensively run, hiked, and climbed in both my adoptive home in the USA and my home country, the United Kingdom. I am currently training for my next race, the Ultra Trail Snowdonia, a 55km race through the Mountains of Wales.
I’m also a proud father, and my family inspires me daily, shaping the way I see and engage with the world.
Let’s connect—I’d love to collaborate on creating something meaningful.
Jack has the requisite design skills and temperament for approaching complex design challenges. Jack is both a team player and great to collaborate with.
During his time at Travelport Jack grew a lot as a product designer but also helped those around him improve. He was successful at directing his research skills not just to product design but to team processes and how we worked. He led one of the team's biggest design challenges - to research and map out how the design process was understood and worked across different product teams. The findings enabled the team to come together to better define and adapt their ways of working. Jack also did a great job leading and communicating with the team working on the challenge.
I would not hesitate to recommend Jack as a product designer - his experience and attitude would be an asset to any organization.
Matthew Ovington - VP of Design, Mastercard
Matthew was my Director of UX at Travelport, and an influential mentor in my career.Jack has been a highly valuable and collaborative team member at Travelport for a number of years. During his time with us, he contributed to a variety of key elements and workflows for our flagship product – ranging from customer tools that agents will interact with everyday, SDK and scripting, challenging and niche areas like audit history, and more. He also took on a leadership role for his team to gather feedback about design and research processes on our very large product and engineering team.
Jack always demonstrated professionalism, curiosity, and a knack for trying out different ways of approaching problems. Jack would leverage AI to help define tools, work with the development teams to explore useful interaction patterns that hadn’t been done before on the app, iterate through the best combinations and creative uses of our design system, pursued copy writing and accessibility training, any many other initiatives that bolstered both his professional excellence and benefitted our products.
We have been very lucky to have Jack on our team, and I would highly recommend him - I’m certain any team that brings him on will benefit from the same creativity and positive energy he shared with Travelport.
